“For Demi’s black French manicure, we applied a base color combination, which I refer to as ‘nail foundation,’” Minerva shares with Allure. She highlights how blending two polish shades allows for a perfectly tailored hue that blends naturally. “I started with one coat of OPI Bare My Soul, a soft milky nude with lighter tones, followed by one coat of Put It in Airplane Mode to introduce a warmer undertone. This technique ensured the base color aligned flawlessly with her skin tone, creating a harmonious foundation.”

Building on this customized base, Minerva reached for one of the beauty industry's most renowned black polishes to craft the tips. “I selected OPI Black Onyx to form a medium-width French tip that perfectly complemented the free edge of her naturally round-shaped nails,” she explains. The result was a precise, modern twist on the classic design that accentuated Lovato's natural nail shape without overpowering it.

Although this variation might not push the boundaries of extravagant nail art, opting for black instead of white on the tips delivers an undeniable statement.
